Early recharging for a stress-free journey: ENGIE Vianeo optimizes the experience of electric truck drivers

Updated

Four months after the inauguration of its Lyon-Paris corridor, ENGIE Vianeo confirms its leadership in electric truck recharging. This pioneering project, rapidly adopted by hauliers, demonstrates ENGIE Vianeo’s ability to accelerate the transition to low-carbon transport and to innovate in the field of green mobility.

A recharging corridor widely adopted

Since its inception in 2023, ENGIE Vianeo has positioned itself as a forerunner in the heavy mobility market. With APRR, ENGIE Vianeo has created a recharging corridor for electric heavy goods vehicles between Lyon and Paris, enabling fleets of electric trucks to hit the road with peace of mind. This initiative is a first in France. It represents an important step forward in the development of electric mobility and the decarbonization of means of transport.

2025 provides the first results on station use, half of which is concentrated in the Galande strategic area. There have been over 700 charging sessions since the inauguration.

ENGIE Vianeo is committed to the transition of heavy-duty mobility to electric power. The charging stations reserved for e-trucks are designed to make it easier for hauliers to use the new electric trucks. They provide proof of safety on long journeys. This proof is characterized by the accessibility, availability and sufficient number of charging stations.

In 2024, ENGIE Vianeo inaugurated the 5 charging stations for electric heavy goods vehicles between Lyon and Paris. The project, which has an international following, has already recorded more than 700 charging sessions. The corridor will save 40,000 tonnes of CO2 over 10 years.

An optimised experience for drivers

Initial feedback from 2025 is promising. Truck drivers can now book their recharging sessions in advance, ensuring the availability of charging stations and their compatibility with their route schedule. This system, coupled with barriers whose opening is conditional on the reservation, means that journeys can be made with complete peace of mind.

In 2025, new stations will open on the corridor, including the Saint-Witz multi-fuel station with GNVERT and the Sommesous station in the Marne region. ENGIE Vianeo is planning developments in Europe with MCS technology, offering charging power of up to 1 MW for electric trucks.
